Position SummaryThe Lead Vascular Sonographer functions as a healthcare provider working under the delegated authority of the technical director and supervising physician. The role includes supervising sonography staff and providing professional development oversight of sonography staff.
Boston Medical Center seeks a full‑time Sr. Vascular Technologist for our IAC Accredited Vascular Lab. The Vascular Team closely works with 4 vascular surgeons, 2 cardiologists, 2 neurologists, fellows/residents, and 6 vascular technologists.
Education &Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in vascular tech/ultrasound, or a BS/AS in any allied health/science discipline plus a certificate from an accredited vascular ultrasound program.
Licensure/Certification s
- Certified through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or within 24 months.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in vascular ultrasound technology and non‑invasive vascular exams.
- Proficient with all vascular laboratory equipment.
- Perform the full spectrum of vascular studies: non‑invasive carotid studies, arterial duplex (AVF, graft surveillance, stent surveillance, etc.), venous duplex studies, transcranial Doppler studies, renal artery studies, arterial physiology studies, and vein mapping studies.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co‑workers, administrators, and members of the health‑care team across all departments.
- Maintain an extensive clinical experience in sonography services and demonstrate the ability to mentor and support staff sonographers.
- Supervise sonography staff and oversee professional development.
- Demonstrate competence in vascular sonography and hold ARDMS RVT certification.
- Commit to professional growth, continuing medical education, and staff training.
- Proficient with computer skills and software for documentation and report generation.
- Assist with IAC reaccreditation, education, and training of students and residents.
- Ensure sonography exam results meet facility standards and pass quality assurance before release.
- Provide oversight for technical and image quality of examinations performed.
- Act as the clinical/technical leader in sonography imaging within the facility.
- Participate in quality assurance protocols and quality improvement measures.
$39.90—$57.93 per hour
