Patient Care CoordinatorThe Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) is an integral part of the clinical team – they lead the way in creating excellent patient experiences and drive administrative excellence inside the clinic. The PCC greets patients, schedules appointments, collects co‑pays, accurately relays insurance benefit information, and provides authorization details to patients. The PCC performs tasks to relieve clinical staff of administrative and clerical duties.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Retrieve daily messages from the answering machine, updating appropriate schedules to reflect changes.
- Greet and direct patients, vendors, and visitors of the clinic.
- Ensure new patients complete appropriate paperwork and organize it in the patient chart for the first appointment.
- Answer multiple‑line telephone system, obtaining demographic and insurance information from new patients scheduled for an initial evaluation.
- Collect co‑payments from patients, documenting payment transactions on a written receipt.
- Manage patient appointments and cancellations, reviewing therapist schedules to effectively fill openings through the medical records system.
- Assist therapists with faxing patient information to medical offices as requested.
- Maintain general understanding of insurances, including how to read benefit eligibility.
- Explain benefit details to patients including authorization requirements, co‑pays, and deductibles.
- Initiate appropriate collection activity in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Negotiate payment terms with customers to minimize collection agency involvement.
- Review essential reporting and dashboards to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- High‑school diploma or GED.
- Two to three years of related experience and/or training.
- Associate degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
