The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non‑clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This position involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, and collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.
EssentialFunctions
- Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient’s medical record.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer‑service approach.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
- Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates; provide immunizations as applicable which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
- Responsible for improving departmental quality initiatives such as patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required;
Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – Various issuers preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) – Various issuers preferred.
- Direct MA experience or medical field work 1‑2 years required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to prioritize tasks; accuracy and attention to detail; compliance with privacy and confidentiality rules.
- Ability to take vital signs, collect specimens, and proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.

Hourly pay range: $17.36 – $24.45. Regular 40‑hour work week. The base pay referenced is an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications; additional benefits, career advancement opportunities, and performance bonuses are also provided.
