Outpatient Financial Counselor - U, FT Day

Patient Financial Services, Certified Application Counselors provide application assistance to applicants and beneficiaries of Qualified Health Plans and insurance affordability programs, including Mass Health and health insurance programs offered through the Health Insurance Exchange (HIX). The Certified Application Counselor (CAC) interviews, assesses, and screens patients for eligibility for qualified health plans and is responsible for tracking and processing accurate, complete, and timely applications consistent with BMC billing practices and procedures.

As a CAC, you will assist patients in applying for Qualified Health Plans and insurance affordability programs. Your role involves interviewing, assessing, and screening patients for eligibility, and accurately tracking and processing applications in accordance with BMC billing practices and the Certified Application Counselor Policy Requirements.

• High School diploma required; bilingual preferred.
• Hospital experience strongly preferred.
• Must receive training and be certified as a Certified Application Counselor within 45 days of employment.
• Must be extremely organized, able to prioritize, make independent decisions, and have strong problem resolution skills.
• Must handle a heavy caseload of patients and possess strong follow‑through skills.
• Must be computer competent with keyboard and mouse and must provide excellent customer service skills.
