Monday through Friday schedule – 20 hours per week.
Job SummaryThe Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) is a therapist with a minimum of four (4) years of experience with strong clinical knowledge and skills working with rehabilitation of the hand/wrist/forearm/elbow. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently in a busy clinic, triage walk-in consults, collaborate with peers and clinic leadership, and manage both patient care and additional delegated clinical and non-clinical tasks.
Responsibilities- Evaluates patient’s occupational therapy needs, formulates a diagnosis, and develops a treatment plan with goals directed toward maximizing function.
- Demonstrates competency in all clinical knowledge and skills specific to the outpatient hand therapy population.
- Acts as a clinical or non-clinical resource.
- Consults with other members of the health care team to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies.
- Completes additional tasks and responsibilities, including orientation of new staff, participation on committees, QI activities, supervision of students and aides, and involvement in developing/revising practice guidelines.
- Participates in the implementation of a quality assurance program for clinical service.
- Assists in triaging, prioritizing, monitoring referrals, and discharges to and from the clinic, reporting important trends to the clinic manager and direct supervisor.
- Assists in proper care and distribution of department supplies and equipment, making recommendations for adequate inventory and appropriate new equipment.
- Participates in departmental meetings to formulate policies, procedures, and program development.

Education
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy – preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy – required.
Licenses and Credentials
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
- Current unrestricted license to practice occupational therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Certified Hand Therapist – preferred.
Must have a minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience with demonstrated competency in hand therapy.

- Superior communication and interpersonal skills for effective leadership, mentoring staff, and positive clinical team participation.
- Analytical abilities and sound knowledge in Occupational Therapy and Hand Therapy to serve as an educational and clinical resource.
- Initiative to participate in development and implementation of programs, policies, procedures, and integration of OT into the clinic.
- Orientation to department and hospital policies and procedures, including quality standards unique to the assigned patient area, expected within three months.
- Competency in assessment and treatment relative to age-specific needs for the patient population in accordance with the department’s practice standards.
