POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision, performs non‑invasive diagnostic tests for cardiovascular diseases to support quality patient care. The Echocardiographer responsible for preliminary echo cardiographic measurements, summarizing diagnostic data, and communicating information to managers or requesting physicians. Performs a variety of technical duties using phono‑apex cardiograms, imaging duplex, and ultrasound equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs non‑traumatic, non‑invasive examinations using phono‑apex cardiograms, imaging duplex, and ultrasound equipment.
  • Positions patients and operates equipment to produce reliable, informative data.
  • Explains procedures to patients.
  • Evaluates recordings in real time and performs complete analysis.
  • Interprets exams and chart graphics as needed; processes hard‑copy results.
  • Assists with daily workflow by performing portable exams.
  • Performs advanced technical responsibilities aligned with skill level.
  • Conducts stress echo, dobutamine echo, and vascular studies as required.
  • Performs Holter Monitor analysis for cardiac arrhythmias or abnormalities.
  • Conducts cardiac stress tests under direct physician supervision.
  • Prepares patients for stress tests, including electrode placement; demonstrates procedure.
  • Records and calculates parameters; interprets ECG tracings for diagnostic purposes.
  • Maintains records of examination results.
  • Provides guidance to technologists, fellows, and students in performing echocardiograms.
  • Guides and directs EKG Technicians in absence of the Manager.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files per required standards.
  • Enters charges into the hospital billing system.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
  • Maintains courteous, professional relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
  • Provides appropriate care for adult and geriatric patients; seeks assistance when encountering unserved age groups.
  • Maintains work area and equipment as per department standards.
  • Makes inventory decisions to prevent supply shortages.
  • Participates in educational programs, literature reviews, and workshops for professional growth.
  • Adheres to hospital standards of conduct and bedside manner.
  • Follows infection control and safety procedures.
OTHER DUTIES

Performs other duties as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
  • Two‑year program in a related field (e.g., cardio sonography technical training) is required.
  • Knowledge of cardiology, medical terminology, basic physics, biology, and anatomy.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATES
  • Certification or eligibility with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in echocardiography is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least one year of echocardiography experience in a hospital facility (internships are not included).
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Strong knowledge of congenital heart disease.
  • Proficiency in cardiographic and sonographic equipment and procedures.
  • Analytical ability to solve limited‑complexity technical problems following standardized methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for patient communication and team collaboration.
  • Basic computer proficiency for accessing, entering, and interpreting data.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Bilingual or multi‑lingual skills are a plus.
COMPENSATION RANGE

Salary: $31.97 – $46.39 per hour. This range reflects the minimum qualifications and is adjusted for education, experience, skills, and certifications. Total compensation includes benefits, bonuses, pension plans, and paid time off.
