Clincial Research Coordinator II, Gastroenterology (part time)
We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II to support gastrointestinal research studies at Boston Medical Center (BMC). The position is part‑time (20 hours per week) and will be based in Boston, MA.
Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Administrative Director, Grants Manager, and Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator II will perform research activities using approved techniques. Responsibilities include specimen procurement, processing, shipping; patient recruitment; questionnaire administration; medical record abstraction; maintenance of patient databases; data entry into sponsor‑specific electronic data capture forms; administrative tasks; grant assistance; audit and quality improvement projects; and preparation of data and other reports.
Job Responsibilities- Evaluate and track the eligibility of all patients for research studies, making independent judgments about suitability and developing recruitment strategies.
- Conduct telephone interviews, schedule study visits, obtain informed consent, and register patients into cohort studies and protocols.
- Review and abstract medical records, including pathology reports.
- Enter and maintain accurate information in EMR, eCRF, and departmental systems.
- Collect, organize, and review patient data; recommend changes to protocols and data evaluation.
- Perform clinical tests such as phlebotomy and EKGs.
- Coordinate collection, processing, organization, and storage of biological specimens.
- Prepare and present data reports and findings.
- Handle mailings, inventory/ordering of supplies, and monitor equipment setup.
- Maintain IRB and regulatory submissions and files.
- Train and orient new research assistants and staff.
- Oversee the work of research assistants and may serve as team leader or supervisor.
- Master’s degree or equivalent.
- 2‑5 years of experience in clinical research coordination.
- Excellent organization and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact at all staff levels and with external contacts.
- Effective time‑management and prioritization abilities, with discretion and adherence to confidentiality guidelines.
- High computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and data management programs.
- Analytical skills to resolve technical problems and interpret data results.
