Environmental Services (Housekeeping) Brighton – Boston Medical Center (BMC)

• Onsite housekeeping position

• Per diem/casual position
• Rotating work schedule including nights, evenings, days, weekends
• Clean and service all areas of the facility according to established procedures
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around hospital departments
• Maintain hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition
• Respond to fire or disaster codes as instructed by supervisor or manager

• Select cleaning materials and supplies & prepare chemicals according to procedure
• Load maid’s carts and transport to work area
• Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions
• Clean high‑touch areas such as door knobs, handrails, telephone, wall plates, light switches, light pull cords, monitors, walls, doors, ceilings, vents, televisions, and windows
• Sweep, mop floor areas, vacuum carpets, spot clean carpets, and arrange furniture and equipment orderly after cleaning
• Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed
• Operate various types of cleaning equipment – mechanical and electrical
• Clean equipment and notify manager of equipment needing repair; report safety hazards
• Clean carts and equipment, ensuring items are replaced orderly
• Climb ladder to hang cubicle or window drapes as required
• Collect waste from all areas of responsibility
• Collect hazardous waste as established by policy
• Clean isolation rooms during patient stay and following discharge
• Clean in operating suites using proper cleaning solutions as prescribed by departmental procedures
• Arrange furniture for meetings
• Assist with delivery of laundry carts to patient areas when requested

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred

• Some work‑related experience preferred but willing to train

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
