Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join their team and take charge of their real estate financial operations. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership in a small, yet multifaceted environment managing a diverse portfolio that includes multi-property, hospitality, and retail assets. The ideal candidate is a CPA-qualified, independent thinker with a hands‑on approach who can oversee complex accounting processes, support acquisition strategies, and drive accurate financial reporting—all while gaining broad exposure to the company's entire real estate investment landscape.
CompensationUp to $+ annually
Responsibilities- Lead multi-entity financial reporting, including the preparation of over 50 LLC tax returns, K-1s, and personal returns.
- Oversee monthly closing procedures, perform reconciliations, and conduct variance analysis across multiple properties and operational segments.
- Manage and analyze diverse portfolios comprising apartments, hotels, CAM, and hospitality operations, ensuring accurate P&L tracking.
- Develop and review financial models for property acquisitions, including proforma statements, cash‑on‑cash returns, and IRR calculations.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations on deals, highlighting return metrics and key valuation variables.
- Support acquisition activities by assessing operational and liability considerations, collaborating with third‑party operators where applicable.
- Ensure compliance by preparing and auditing tax filings for LLCs and individual investors and coordinating with external advisors on global real estate reporting.
- Collaborate with team members and serve as a trusted partner to the CFO, taking ownership of critical financial functions in a small, collaborative environment.
- 10–15 years of professional experience in real estate accounting or finance.
- Proven ability to independently run deals, conduct detailed return analyses, and oversee multi‑property portfolios.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, tax compliance, and internal controls.
- Extensive experience with multi‑entity accounting, including tax returns and K-1s.
- Prior exposure to complex real estate environments such as REITs, retail malls, and hospitality portfolios.
- Stellar analytical skills with the capacity to develop detailed proformas and ROI models.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA qualification is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working in an in‑office setting five days a week, with flexibility as needed.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial data clearly and confidently.
