Senior Associate, Fund Tax will support the team leaders and help oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Partners Capital funds. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in fund investor services, fund tax compliance, accounting, reporting, and/or fund operations for funds of funds, private equity, secondaries funds, registered funds, and/or hedge funds. The successful applicant should have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and be ready for wide ranging responsibilities in various technical areas, as well as project management and third-party relationship management.

Candidates will be expected to be agile in coordinating with various teams across the firm to contribute to the firm’s continued success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee key tax and regulatory reporting functions and processes for $20 billion+ AUM within 80+ multi-asset class pooled vehicles.
  • Support a high-quality client experience through timely issuance of investor reporting and responses to client queries regarding their audit and tax reporting.
  • Coordinate strategic and tactical operations projects to support the rapidly growing firm and team, with a focus on automation and data management.
  • Oversee and manage third-party relationships with fund auditors, tax providers, and valuation agents, ensuring all regulatory deadlines are met and service issues are resolved in a timely manner or appropriately escalated to senior management.
  • Identify and monitor key regulatory risk areas including, but not limited to, fund FATCA/CRS reporting, Effectively Connected Income (ECI), Corporate Estimated Tax Payments, and Withholding, recommending improvements to approach or accuracy where appropriate.
  • Uphold a strong operational control environment through maintaining checklists and support files, proactively investigating issues to root cause and holding service providers to the highest standard of timeliness and quality.
  • Lead on fund communications and interactions with the global firm and third-party providers. Demonstrate a strong understanding of our team processes and act as the “information hub” of the organization and serve as a brand ambassador for the firm through management of ad hoc queries and requests.
  • Support client and research teams by liaising with service providers to research and problem solve to meet new and existing client needs with a focus on eliminating redundancies and exceeding industry standards.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by helping others learn. Support the recruiting process as the team continues to expand.

Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business. The individual may be required to work overtime as needed.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring all information security processes, policies and procedures are adhered to and any issues or concerns are raised with the Cyber Security team.
  • Ensure full compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, and any related issues are raised via the appropriate channels.
Qualifications / Attributes

Required:

  • Degree in Finance, Tax, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with private funds in the financial services industry. Big 4 experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of registered fund and alternative vehicles and their investors, including regulatory and tax reporting requirements for fund structures including Corporations and Special Purpose Vehicles.
  • Knowledge of FATCA, CRS, and ECI regulations and understanding of the interplay with investor tax considerations.
  • Familiarity with tax filing requirements for various entity types including ability to interpret tax notices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving abilities, anticipates what should be done to solve a problem, improve a process, and mitigate risk.
  • Comfort with data analysis and strong technical acumen, specifically in Microsoft Excel. Power BI is a plus.
