We are seeking a highly organized and hands‑on Director of Finance to join our client's team. This person is responsible for enterprise?level real estate accounting, financial reporting, and client deliverables across multiple portfolios.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and oversight for financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and related client deliverables.
  • Ensure accounting and reporting practices align with contractual, regulatory, and financing requirements across all portfolios.
  • Oversee accounting for complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, debt activity, and sophisticated lease structures.
  • Partner with asset and property leadership on budgets, forecasts, CAM reconciliations, and operating performance.
  • Direct onboarding and transition activities for acquisitions, dispositions, and developments, including system integrations and banking setup.
  • Establish standards for data integrity, system usage, and accounting consistency across platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting managers and senior staff; set performance expectations and drive accountability.
  • Sponsor and oversee training, process documentation, and adoption of best practices.
  • Serve as executive point of contact for audits, tax engagements, and key client relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, technology enablement, and cross?functional collaboration.
  • Partner with peer leaders to align strategy, share best practices, and improve operational scalability.
Qualifications
  • Extensive leadership experience within commercial real estate accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to oversee large, complex portfolios and guide teams through change and growth.
  • Deep understanding of lease accounting, CAM, real estate tax escalations, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong command of real estate accounting systems (Yardi required; MRI exposure a plus).
  • Executive?level communication skills with experience engaging clients, auditors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset balanced with hands?on operational expertise.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast?paced, technology?driven environment with competing priorities.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
