Equity Research Analyst – Public Equities
Schedule: In-Office (5 Days/Week)
Compensation: Base salary up to $160,000 + bonus + benefits
About the OpportunityA well-established, investment-focused firm is seeking an Equity Research Analyst to support its internally managed public equity strategy. This role is ideal for an investment professional with 3–5 years of experience conducting fundamental stock research and supporting portfolio construction in the public markets. The position is purely investment-focused—no portfolio administration or operational responsibilities—and offers direct exposure to senior investment decision-makers in a collaborative, high-conviction environment.
Role OverviewThe Equity Research Analyst will contribute to the firm’s public equity investment process through rigorous fundamental research, idea generation, and portfolio support. The analyst will evaluate companies, build and maintain financial models, monitor existing holdings, and contribute meaningfully to stock selection and portfolio decisions.
This role is well-suited for candidates coming from a family office, asset management firm, institutional investment platform, or similar environment, who are looking to deepen their impact in a hands-on research role.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct fundamental equity research, including financial modeling, valuation analysis, competitive positioning, and management assessment
- Generate and evaluate investment ideas within public equities
- Support portfolio construction through position sizing, risk assessment, and exposure analysis
- Monitor earnings, company developments, industry trends, and relevant macroeconomic factors
- Track existing holdings for thesis drift, valuation changes, and emerging risks
- Prepare clear, concise investment memos and present recommendations to senior investment leadership
- Collaborate closely with a small investment team in a fast-paced, decision-driven environment
- Participate in occasional client-facing discussions to explain investment rationale, as needed
- 3–5 years of experience in public equity research or investment analysis
- CFA charter holder or CFA candidate strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience performing stock research and supporting portfolio construction
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Ability to articulate investment theses clearly in both written and verbal form
- High attention to detail with strong intellectual curiosity
- Professional maturity and comfort working closely with senior investment leadership
- Experience in a family office, asset management firm, endowment, foundation, or similar institutional setting preferred
- Full-time, five days per week in the Boston office
