We are partnering with this organization to identify a Director of Accounting to join a highly visible Corporate Finance function. This role will lead a segment accounting team supporting a diverse portfolio that spans multiple product and content categories. The Segment Controller will oversee technical accounting considerations, drive process efficiency, modernize reporting, and champion continuous improvement across the finance organization. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and offers significant exposure to senior leadership across accounting, finance, and the business.
Location:Hybrid schedule; onsite Tuesday–Thursday at the company’s Boston‑area headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead day‑to‑day accounting activities for a global segment, including revenue and related accounting functions.
- Own and communicate segment financial results, including balance sheet analysis, and partner with Finance on P&L understanding.
- Serve as the accounting liaison to Business/Commercial Finance and act as primary point of contact with Technical Accounting for segment‑specific matters.
- Drive modernization and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in financial reporting.
- Provide executive‑level support by investigating complex accounting matters and collaborating with cross‑functional partners.
- Serve as a key liaison with external auditors to support a streamlined audit process.
- Oversee timely completion of local statutory financial statements.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders to provide timely guidance on accounting implications of business activities.
- Support senior leadership with ad hoc projects, including analysis of business operations and proposed accounting treatments.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
- At least 5 years in public accounting and/or public company environments;
Big 4 experience preferred. - Strong command of US GAAP and SOX requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Demonstrated success developing and leading teams.
- Ability to build credibility, trust, and strong working relationships across senior leadership.
- Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills.
$160,000 - $180,000 plus annual bonus and LTI
