Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Soni's client is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations in a fast-paced, multi-entity nonprofit environment. This role oversees day-to-day accounting, manages a small team, and ensures accurate, scalable financial processes in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit best practices.

The Controller is a hands‑on leader responsible for accrual-based accounting, month‑end close, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls across nonprofit, lending, real estate, and special‑purpose entities. This role partners closely with executive leadership and delivers clear, decision‑ready financial insights.

• Lead accrual‑based accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities
• Manage month‑end close, reconciliations, and budget‑to‑actual reporting
• Oversee audits, compliance, accounting policies, and internal controls
• Ensure accurate accounting for real estate, lending, and special‑purpose entities
• Support budgeting, forecasting, grants, and external reporting
• Improve accounting systems, processes, and documentation
• Manage, develop, and mentor finance staff

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or multi‑entity environments
• Strong expertise in accrual accounting, GAAP, and audit readiness
• Experience with grants, lending, or real estate accounting preferred
• Proven success leading month‑end close and managing teams
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

$140,000 to $160,000 annually

Compensation is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications
