Overview
Valuation Services Director – Complex Financial Instruments at RSM US LLP – Director level role focused on Complex Financial Instruments (CFI) within the Valuation Team. The position involves working on a variety of challenging projects providing exposure to financial analysis, business and financial modeling and forecasting, and valuations of complex instruments and derivatives including convertible instruments, embedded derivatives, earn-outs, interest rate derivatives, common and preferred stock and other securities, along with private debt instruments, options, warrants, and other derivatives.
Services support mergers and acquisitions, venture financing and IPOs, taxation planning and compliance, financial reporting, and strategic planning, and may support assurance and tax clients as needed.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain an effective sales and marketing process in the Valuation practice area with defined growth goals
- Maintain an established referral network
- Network with peers in other geographic markets and in other areas of assurance, tax, and business consulting
- Contribute thought leadership in the practice area
- Serves as primary advisor to clients and manages CFI engagement teams
- Manage, develop, and train other CFI valuation professionals
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with centers of influence and professionals
- Effectively manage overall client relationships to exceed client satisfaction
- Manage fundamentals (realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, expenses)
- Provide thought leadership
- Mentor, coach and train staff
- Align work with the firm’s strategy
- Enhance the RSM brand through thought leadership and marketing programs
- Promote cross-selling and integration of service lines
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Math, Financial Mathematics, Quantitative Finance or related); MBA or other Master’s a plus
- Professional
Certifications:
ABV, CPA, ASA or CFA - Experience valuing complex financial instruments
- Experience with Option Pricing Models, Monte Carlo and Binomial Models
- Experience with Monte Carlo programs (e.g., @risk, Crystal Ball), lattice models, coding (MATLAB, R), Bloomberg
- Practice development, management, marketing and thought leadership related to complex financial instruments
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and sell firm solutions
- Ability to exceed client expectations in a sophisticated large firm environment; experience with Big 4 or national consulting firm valuations for financial and tax reporting
- Demonstrated ability to develop business and a productive referral network
- 8+ years in management/leadership/supervisory roles
- Database experience with Capital IQ
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Flexibility to travel to clients and other RSM offices
- Ability to work independently to gather facts, organize data, analyze financial statements and other data, and identify relevant issues
Compensation and Benefits
RSM offers a competitive benefits and compensation package. Details about total rewards are available at the RSM careers site. Salary range for this role is $134,000 - $269,000 with eligibility for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
