Your Opportunity

In this position as an Acoustical Intern, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. The role of an Acoustical Intern is to perform a variety of selected tasks and assignments to develop knowledge and skills within the acoustical discipline.

Assignments will require good technical understanding of the basics of acoustics, physics, and engineering. Work performed will be under the direct supervision of an Acoustics Principal or Senior Associate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with, support, and assist Building Acoustics colleagues
  • Assist in the review of drawings, specifications, schedules, details and sketches from conceptual design through to construction
  • Perform acoustical calculations using acoustical software, industry algorithms, and available software tools
  • Learn to apply fundamental acoustical principles to solve real‑world problems
  • Assisting in resolution of technical issues on construction sites
  • Support and collaborate with the multi‑disciplinary internal and external teams
  • Contribute to the promotion of our health and safety culture
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Good solid foundation and understanding of acoustics and the acoustical engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering calculations
  • Eager to learn with strong listening and critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
  • Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems using sound engineering judgment, creativity, and innovation
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
  • Experience with drafting and computer aided drafting (CAD) software
  • Proficiency with coding in Visual Basic, C, Python, or MATLAB
  • Commitment to a culture of safety
Education and Experience

Must be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in an engineering discipline, physics, or mathematics from an accredited university. Consideration will be given to candidates pursuing music or performance production degrees with a focus and strong interest in the science and math associated with the topic. Position will primarily work in‑person at the Boston office (40 Water Street) with occasional site visits and travel.
