The Opportunity
PAE is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer II to join our team in a hybrid office environment in Boston, MA. In this role, you will bridge the gap between foundational design and project leadership, taking ownership of mechanical system layouts for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. Working under the direction of a Lead Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise to perform complex load calculations, select equipment, and ensure all project deliverables meet our high standards for quality and precision.

- Perform Revit/AutoCAD system engineering
- Design and plan mechanical system design and layouts under the direction of a lead engineer
- Thorough understanding of mechanical distribution, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Energy Modeling
- Prepare project deliverables with attention to detail
- Understand and be able to read plans and specifications, develop the skills to edit/write specifications
- Develop the ability to understand other disciplines
- Application of building codes, industry standards and mechanical engineering design principals
- Perform engineering calculations and equipment selection based on calculated load requirements
- Interact with clients and other project team members
- Support the project lead in developing opinions of probable construction costs
- Contribute to site visits and prepare reports
- Implement the project quality management plan (QMP)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline work
- Requires a minimum 1-2 years of Mechanical 1 or equivalent experience
- Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate to others
- Knowledge of all project phases
- Problem solving and analysis

- Hiring Base Salary Range: $86,400-$111,900 annual
- This position is eligible for time and a half overtime pay
The base salary is one component of PAE’s competitive compensation package for employees. We take into consideration a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, internal equity and geographic location in determining exact salary offered. At PAE, employees are eligible for annual compensation reviews based on performance and business needs. The above range represents PAE's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
