Fishing Vessel Chief Engineer

We are seeking for a Chief Engineer to join our dynamic team at Seafreeze Fleet. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical operation of the vessels and for the maintenance and repair of all the ship’s machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate inspection and maintenance of the equipment and installations.
  • Maintain record of operations, equipment, service performed, according to company’s requirements.
  • Maintain the inventory of consumables and spare parts.
  • Estimate fuel and water supply requirements.
  • Report and control compliance with quality and preventive maintenance policy.
  • Comply with maritime, safety and environmental policies, standards and procedures.
  • Review the entries in the on-call records.
  • Check that all work performed is done safely, verifying that the corresponding entries are registered.
  • Keep records of consumption and available stocks of fuels, water, grease and lubricants.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Technician / Professional , title of first class engineer officer of the Merchant Navy.
  • + 5 years of experience in similar positions on fishing vessels or with similar equipments.
  • General knowledge of:
    Millwright, Hydraulic, Electrical, Electrical Control, PLC, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Diesel Engines, Rolling Stock, Inventory, Building Maintenance, General Construction, Fabricating and Welding Processes.
  • Skills and knowledge and experience in refrigeration theory, operation, and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on both low temperature and RSW systems.
  • Courses required by the maritime authority: basic safety training, advanced fire fighting.
  • Survival craft and rescue boats.
  • Proficient in English.

Duration of the trips (offshore):

  • Around 20 trips per year
  • Between 7 and 14 days

OFF:

  • Months of April and May, due to vessel maintenance

Benefits:

  • Up to 30% bonus based on performance (boat & personal)
