Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently in need of a Project Manager to advance our water, wastewater, stormwater design efforts across the New England Area. It is envisioned this candidate would have a mix of client development, project management, and project delivery responsibilities.

Candidates for this position should have experience in water/wastewater distribution/collections infrastructure planning, design, and construction administration, with a focus on condition assessment, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis, wet weather planning, stormwater management, utilities, alternatives analysis, geographic information system analysis, and asset management. The preferred candidate would have experience in a combination of these subject areas.

Our team is growing and have a range of challenging and innovating projects. We work within multi‑disciplinary teams on projects. We plan and design integrated systems and sustainable infrastructure that optimize operations, maximize cost savings, and reduce incidence of failure. We believe with partnering with our clients.

In the role of Project Manager
, we will count on you to:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single‑discipline planning, as well as large, complex multi‑disciplinary projects
  • Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team throughout entire project's development
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff
  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed‑to schedule
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed
  • Perform technical analyses and report preparation
  • Perform studies and reports related to planning for infrastructure management and improvements
  • Lead client project and technical meetings and/or workshops
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for water/wastewater engineers and design staff
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference is given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years related experience including project management
  • PE (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with wastewater infrastructure planning and design
  • Candidates who reside in the local New England area are preferred.
