Our early stage start-up client is creating a product that helps the consumer perform better physically. They are looking for a product development and manufacturing engineer with experience in electro-mechanicals. This is a key position helping refine design concepts through an accelerated product development cycle, and parallel manufacturing release with a contract manufacturer.
Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical EngineerWorking with an interdisciplinary team, lead product design, analysis and development of mechanical components around micro-electronics, and exacting industrial design specifications from design concept to manufacturing release.
Driving the product release with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth product launch.
Develop multiple design concepts and present to peers;
Work with Document Control to create a document package that specifies the completed design and implementation of a product, including, but not limited to 2-D drawings, Bills of Materials and Engineering Change Orders;
Responsible for implementing documentation updates and changes to existing products.
Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods;
Test finished product and system capabilities;
Confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes;
Generate testing and validation plans for designs and execute on them.
Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership, while mentoring colleagues.
Requirements of the Senior Mechanical EngineerBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
10+ years of experience in the design and product release of complex mechanical products for medium to high volume consumer electronics.
5+ years Solid Works or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management.
5+ years of working with Tier 1 & 2 contract manufacturers in Asia.
Extensive experience in mechanical design concepts and the manufacture of products utilizing high volume, automated manufacturing processes as well as manual assembly.
Must be well versed in design, prototyping, and evaluation of advanced injection molded plastic components, die castings, packaging, and material selection.
Demonstrated product design of complex injection molded parts, DFx, and full release to a contract manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with Solid Works, complex surfacing, product lifecycle management, engineering change orders, and integrating DFx feedback.
Ability to define, and implement design and manufacturing practices that leverages larger company processes but adapted to a small team environment.
Strong hands on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams.
Ability to effectively communicate concepts and proposals.
