Project Traffic Engineer

Project Traffic Engineer role at Langan Engineering & Environmental Services (Boston, MA or New Haven, CT)

Langan seeks a Project Traffic / Transportation Engineer to manage and deliver on traffic & parking studies, transportation planning studies, traffic event management studies, and traffic signal/roadway design projects. The role offers the opportunity to manage multiple projects and collaborate across a large team.

• Coordinate and perform the planning and permitting of traffic/transportation engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects.
• Manage and deliver on multiple projects within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Prepare progress reports, draft change orders, invoices, billings, and assist in payment collections.
• Work with staff to determine project feasibility, preparing and modifying reports, specifications, plans, and designs.
• Organize, write, and edit draft proposals, reports, and other documents.
• Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, developing additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings.
• Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff on specific projects. Coach, train, and motivate staff; participate in interviewing and hiring staff.
• Interface effectively with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and other office locations/disciplines; participate in internal and external technical presentations and produce written articles.
• Perform other duties as requested.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Valid Professional Engineer licensure.
• 6+ years of experience in road, intersection, and traffic signal design.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and projects and manage project budgets.
• Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and the MUTCD required; knowledge of AutoCAD and Micro Station a plus.
• Ability to coach and assist with staff management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, occasional travel and field work.

Salary Estimate: $95,000 - $123,500 (actual compensation may vary).
