• Research, evaluate, document, and assess customer product requests to ensure chemical qualities, composition, and other critical characteristics meet acquisition, transportation, storage, and delivery requirements.
• Perform technical evaluations and prepare technical support documents for specifications, standards, commercial item descriptions, purchase descriptions, and qualified product lists for chemicals, cleaners, disinfectants, insecticides, polishes, and floor finishes.
• Assist contracting officers by evaluating vendor product data against purchase descriptions, analyzing contractor requests for deviations, and providing recommendations on impacts to function or service ability.
• Review complex engineering problems and provide recommendations to GSA management, including analysis of new or improved commodities and proposed GSA system items.
• Apply physical, chemical, and numerical analytical criteria (pH, specific gravity, density, flash point, etc.), conduct hazardous material classification, and interpret Safety Data Sheets for physical and chemical properties.

• Obtain hazmat certification for transportation of regulated materials per 49 CFR, IMDG, and IATA regulations within 90 days of hire.

• Provide exact dates for each job (month/year to month/year) and hours per week if part‑time.
• Have a degree in professional engineering or equivalent college‑level education, training, or technical experience.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑11 in applying chemical engineering principles to technical evaluations.
• Demonstrate experience in at least two of the following: determining chemical components used in analysis; performing chemical testing for solutions; presenting analysis reports to senior leadership.
