Job Description & How to Apply Below
Extropic is hiring an Experimental Physicist to help characterize and validate our novel computing architectures. The ideal candidate would be someone with a deep understanding of experimental methodology, solid experience in microelectronics characterization, and strong signal processing and data analysis capabilities to extract insights from complex experimental data.
Required Experience- Experience designing and executing experiments for characterizing microelectronic devices and circuits (I-V characteristics, noise measurements, high-frequency response, temperature dependencies)
- Proficiency in experimental signal processing and data analysis (filtering, FFT analysis, statistical analysis, and noise characterization)
Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, source-measure units, probe stations)
Experience temperature-controlled measurements and understanding of device physics at varying temperature regimes - Strong background in developing custom measurement setups and automation scripts for data acquisition
- Experience analyzing non-linear dynamics, stochastic processes, or analog computing primitives
- Understanding of information theory, and statistical mechanics as applied to physical systems
- Proficiency in data analysis programming with experience in scientific computing
Experience correlating experimental results with theoretical models and simulation data - Ability to work collaboratively with circuit designers to iterate on device and architecture designs
- PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field with focus on experimental work
- Experience with neuromorphic computing, analog computing, or unconventional computing architectures
- Background in mesoscopic physics, semiconductor device physics, or quantum transport
- Experience with high-speed digital sampling and real-time data processing
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques for experimental data analysis and pattern recognition
- Experience with CMOS device characterization or semiconductor fabrication processes
- Publications demonstrating ability to extract physical insights from experimental data
- Experience building or contributing to measurement databases and data pipelines for device characterization
