Join Collins Aerospace & the Mission Systems organization as a Mechanical Engineer. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action‑oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do- Create design for components and assemblies that is clear, accurate, complete, conforms to internal standards, procedures, specifications.
- Design new products and processes and improve and maintain existing products.
- Investigate pertinent design factors such as cost, ease of manufacture, tolerancing, availability and compatibility of materials and equipment, interchangeability, maintainability, strength‑weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements.
- Work collaboratively in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) consisting of various disciplines including Engineering, Operations, and Quality to achieve optimal design solutions.
- Create 3D product models, outlines, and layouts.
- Support product design reviews and coordinate work with project, engineering, and manufacturing teams. Strict adherence to the design process is mandatory for successful realization of Collins product for our demanding customers. Attention to detail is critical to ensure a safe and reliable product is placed into service.
- Ensure accuracy of Clearance Envelopes, Assembly Removal studies, and Fit Checks for correct fit and alignment.
- Create assemblies and manage the Bill of Materials review.
- Support Engineering, Drafting, and Design standard work policy and procedure initiatives.
- Do producibility review to see if any additional changes need to be done to the drawing and incorporate them.
- Check drawings for accuracy, correct GD&T, and compliance to the aerospace industry and Collins drafting and manufacturing standards.
- Support AS9100 certification initiatives and compliance efforts.
- Complete design and documentation of mechanical components, with a focus on aircraft installation and integration.

- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
