Overview
Our client, a growing company in the structural steel construction industry, is looking for a Structural Steel Detailer / CAD Drafter to join their team in the greater Shore area of Massachusetts. In this role, you will create structural steel framing plans, sections, and detailed fabrication drawings for complex commercial, institutional, industrial, and renovation projects in a fast‑paced project environment. You’ll collaborate daily with project stakeholders and engineering teams to clarify and coordinate connections, resolve field issues, and create buildable drawings.
Our client is seeking someone with strong AutoCAD skills and experience using 2D and 3D detailing tools. Ideal candidates bring sound judgment about how steel gets built and apply math and trigonometry confidently. This is an exciting opportunity to have direct involvement in full steel superstructures and a clear path to grow into senior or leadership roles as the organization continues to expand.
pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Responsibilities- Create steel framing plans, sections, and details from concept to release
- Model structural steel in 3D to drive shop and erection drawings
- Detail beams, columns, connections, loads, and misc. metals
- Coordinate with PMs and engineers to resolve connection failures
- Translate contract docs into clear, buildable shop details
- Develop foundation/CMU/metal stud plans aligned to steel frames
- Address renovation field changes with practical, safe solutions
- Check drawings for accuracy, fit, and constructability
- Maintain organized files, revisions, and issue logs
- Support a collaborative, team‑first detailing culture
- 2+ years of steel detailing experience required
- 3D drafting/modeling experience required
