French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for our Bridge Department in Boston, MA. The position offers a competitive base pay range of $80,000–$105,000 per year, with compensation reflecting skills and experience.
Responsibilities- Lead and support the design and analysis of bridge structures, from conceptual to detailed design and load‑rating analysis using industry‑standard software and methods.
- Assist in the management of bridge design projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and compliance with client specifications, codes, and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to junior engineers and support the development of innovative design solutions that meet project objectives.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design meets their needs and provide technical support throughout project phases.
- Review design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications for accuracy and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—including structural, civil, and environmental engineers—to deliver integrated solutions for bridge projects.
- Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and evolving regulations to ensure designs are innovative and compliant with the latest standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
Master’s degree in Structural or Bridge Engineering is a plus. - 2–4 years of experience in bridge design and engineering, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., Micro Station, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, LARSA, or similar) and a strong understanding of AASHTO, local, and international design codes and standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with demonstrated capability to address complex engineering challenges.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
