As an Onsite Chemist you will be responsible for sorting and preparing hazardous and nonhazardous materials for shipment from the customer's site. This role ensures material compatibility and adheres to all safety processes for each job and lab packing service.
Essential Functions & Requirements- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices.
- Segregates and characterizes chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials into appropriate containers, completing required documentation per job, and conducting facility inspections as needed.
- Collects hazardous and nonhazardous materials from various onsite locations and transports them via pushcart or company van.
- Follows proper placarding and load segregation requirements when loading hazardous materials.
- Communicates important information to customers and maintains a productive relationship with key contacts.
- Maintains a logbook of waste stored within the waste storage area at the customer site.
- Maintains good housekeeping in storage areas and advises relevant parties when additional supplies are needed.
- Provides direction to Field Technicians/Drivers while onsite assisting with waste collection.
- Takes on additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor's degree within a science-related discipline (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in lab packing or an environmental waste role (preferred).
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services industry.
- Introductory understanding of high-hazard materials management/assessment and cylinder handling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role.
- Due to the potential exposure to atmospheres/waste/materials, this position requires individuals to be clean shaven at all times in order to don a respirator for protection.
