Bridge Engineer
Join HDR to apply for the Bridge Engineer role. In this position you will help shape safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems through the design of resilient highways, iconic bridges, and rail infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to bridge projects (steel plate girder, prestressed concrete, segmental, cable, box culvert, and interchange design).
- Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures and develop structural details using specialized software (e.g., LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑Multi Pier, LPile).
- Perform structural load calculations, geometric layout, and quantity development.
- Review, assign, and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in bridge design.
- Candidates who reside locally are preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Previous bridge design experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and bridge design software (LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-Multi Pier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP
2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, sp Column, STLBridge
LRFD, or STLBridge). - Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bently Open Bridge Designer , Open Bridge Modeler, Autodesk Infraworks, or Civil3d.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Micro Station, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, and prestress concrete design.
- Experience managing junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
