About the Role

Jacobs is looking for a Sr VDC Coordinator to design and provide technical design leadership for wireless telecommunications systems in data center buildings.

Base Pay

$111,100–$152,700 per year.

Location

On‑site at our Baton Rouge, LA office. Eligible for hybrid work.

Responsibilities
  • Design wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
  • Coordinate with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
  • Coordinate with AHJ’s, radio system owners, and carriers.
  • Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio, Site Radio, RoIP, Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS.
  • 5+ years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or equivalent modeling programs.
  • Experience working with clients to identify wireless communication needs.
  • Experience troubleshooting wireless system issues and understanding noise floor, SNIR, return loss, VSWR, and network optimization.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, Carrier KPIs, IBC, FCC Part 20/90, FCC OET Bulletin 65, MOTOTRBO, Motorola R56, and DMR Tier III.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks and responding to RFPs.
  • Excellent project management skills – creating budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation.
  • iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
  • Self‑motivation and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Additional Experience
  • Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
  • EDX or Motorola design certifications.
  • FCC GROL, NICET Design Certification, multiple OEM product certifications.
  • Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering degree, EIT or PE.
