Senior Bridge Inspection Team Leader – Senior Structural Engineer

We’re looking for a senior structural engineer to lead the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England, covering offices in Boston, Worcester, Glastonbury, Merrimack, and Providence. This role focuses on bridge, tunnel, and ancillary inspections and offers a pathway into team leadership.

Your Impact
  • Work with the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on a variety of inspection related projects.
  • Lead bridge, tunnel & ancillary inspections.
  • Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation of Bridge & Tunnel Load Ratings.
  • Develop plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry‑level engineers.
  • Support engineering tasks, including field work, cost proposals, and documentation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of structural engineering techniques and practices.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in bridge, tunnel or ancillary inspection or design or other infrastructure related work.
  • PE Required.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work‑related issues.
  • Strong interest in structures, transportation or related field and desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Physically capable of performing continuous field work, including working at heights and in close quarters; climbing; carrying ladders and gear; working in adverse weather conditions; and working at night; around moving vehicles; etc.
  • Potential to work 50% of the time in the field and 50% in the office.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check and a valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Track record of upholding workplace safety and abiding by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Flexible scheduling for project‑specific requirements.
  • Occasional travel, including potential overnight stays, may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
  • Member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
  • Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $121,100 - $180,000. WSP USA reserves right to pay more or less than the posted range based on qualifications and location.
