VHB’s Watertown, MA office is looking for an Entry Level Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects within a broad cross-section of markets, including private sector development, municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal land and aviation.
Responsibilities- Working within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
- Traffic impact studies
- Safety studies
- Transportation planning analyses
- Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics
- Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
- Traffic data collection and tabulation
- Intersection and roadway level of service analyses
- Development, analysis and evaluation of traffic improvements
- Roadway and intersection conceptual design
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
- Ability to think critically
- Strong computer skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required
- BS in Civil Engineering
- 0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experience
- EIT preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD a plus
- Experience with Synchro, Vissim, and/or HCS a plus
- Experience with ArcGIS a plus
