Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer

Join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England – offices in Boston (MA), Worcester (MA), Glastonbury (CT), Merrimack (NH), and Providence (RI).

As a Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer you will collaborate with experts, contributing to projects that shape communities and advance the future.

Your Impact
  • Work with the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on variety of inspection projects.
  • Assist in bridge, tunnel and ancillary inspections.
  • Support the preparation of bridge and tunnel load ratings.
  • Develop plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to execute project work.
  • Perform engineering tasks that build technical, social and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Bridge and Transportation Engineering.
  • Conduct project research, field work, preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Help prepare cost proposals and scope of work documents.
  • Collect and maintain project documentation.
  • Complete training on assignment‑specific tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making, adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in bridge, tunnel or ancillary inspection or design, or other infrastructure work. Engineer in Training certification required.
  • Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation or related field and a strong desire to advance these skills at WSP.
  • Physically capable of continuous field work: heights, close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, adverse weather, night work, around moving vehicles, etc.
  • Potential to work 50% of time in the field and 50% in the office.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check and a valid Driver’s License required.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
  • Capacity to take direction from leadership, mentors and managers on projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel, including potential overnight stays, may be required depending on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training certification.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Active membership or participation in local professional practice organizations.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $79,600 – $129,800. WSP USD reserves the right to pay more or less and offer additional benefits, depending on circumstances unrelated to protected characteristics.
