- Provide leadership and oversight over all aspects of undergraduate student services, academic support, and co-curricular programming in the College with the goal of supporting student development and success.
- Oversee the CAS Advising Center, the Pre-professional Advising Center, the Office of Programs and Student Leadership, academic misconduct procedures, and coordinate and lead academic advisors based in the academic departments.
- Represent CAS as a liaison to the central administration and other BU schools and colleges.
- Direct advising and academic support: oversee advising/services provided by the CAS Advising Center and collaborate with academic departments and interdisciplinary programs to ensure high-quality advising and services.
- Partner with campus resources (e.g., Career Services, Newbury Center, Educational Resource Center) to promote student success.
- Act as final arbiter for petitions for exceptions to policy, particularly regarding graduation requirements.
- Support students through counseling, crisis management, and advocacy, including collaboration with Financial Aid, the Dean of Students Office, and Counseling and Psychiatric Services.
- Oversee academic standards and conduct; work with the Academic Standards Committee and the Academic Conduct Committee; ensure accurate student records; serve as FERPA liaison in the College; act as primary point of contact for communicating with parents.
- Lead and coordinate with the Dean of the College, leadership team, central administration, departments, and other BU schools/colleges to develop and implement relevant student academic life policies.
- Collaborate with the Director of the Office of Programs and Student Leadership to enhance undergraduate programs and co-curricular experiences.
- Represent the Colleges’ undergraduate mission at orientations and visit programs; participate in Spring Open Houses; work with prospective students and families; oversee recruitment materials and scholarship programs.
- Manage and develop the advising staff: supervise, recruit, mentor, and support career development for advisors and student support staff (four direct reports; total team of twenty-four).
- Minimum of ten years of management experience in undergraduate academic advising, student services, or student success initiatives within a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, supervising professional staff, and overseeing complex administrative operations.
- Strong knowledge of developing and maintaining academic policies, academic standards processes, and student conduct procedures, including experience working with committees or governance structures.
- Familiarity with FERPA regulations and experience serving as a liaison for student records and privacy matters.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, academic departments, and central administrative units.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students in crisis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions on petitions, exceptions, and academic policy matters.
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to engage confidently with students, families, faculty, and senior administrators.
- Tact, composure, and discretion in dealing with sensitive and urgent matters.
- Demonstrated commitment to establishing and maintaining an inviting and inclusive environment and supporting the success of students from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Master’s Degree, preferably in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or a related field.
