SY​/27 GRADE 4 MATH​/STE TEACHER

Position: SY 26/27 GRADE 4 MATH/STE TEACHER
Summary:

The successful candidate will possess the appropriate Massachusetts Educators License and serve as the Upper School Math/STE Teacher. The Upper School Math/STE Teacher will help and motivate students to develop competence skills in the solution of practical problems and an understanding of the structure of mathematics and science by implementing BRCPS approved curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates mathematical and scientific concepts using models, other available technology methods and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids
Identify underachieving students in need of support in the areas of mathematics and science by using BRCPS assessments plan
Evaluates each students' progress in mathematics and science knowledge and skills
Prepare teaching materials and related reports (grading papers with objective answers, attendance and anecdotal records) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress
Participate in in-service programs to enhance the overall educational experience for students
Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
Provides structure in the classroom by promoting a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning
Work under the general supervision of the Upper School and or other designated administrator, manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement.
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
Attend staff meetings and serves on staff committee as required.
Morning Duty:
Includes active supervision of hallways and classroom.
Afternoon Duty:
Includes active supervision of dismissal process.
Additional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipend

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Required) Master's Degree (Preferred)
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by BRCPS, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
Experience working in an urban setting, preferred
Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred
Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution

Required license(s)/MTELs:
DESE License:
Teaching certification in Mathematics 5-8 or General Ed and SEI Endorsement. Or
Passing the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL), this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s) General Curriculum Mathematics or Elementary/Middle School Mathematics.
