Assistant Professor International andor Human Development Pardee School of Global Studies

The Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in International and/or Human Development, beginning July 1, 2026. We are especially interested in scholars whose work focuses not only on traditional economic development themes, but also addresses outcomes in health, education, and freedom at the individual and group levels, and pays particular attention to issues of inequality.

We welcome applications from scholars in any relevant discipline, including economics, geography, political science, development studies, and international relations. We are open to all methodological approaches, however, the ability to teach quantitative methods is a plus. Candidates who have demonstrated policy experience in addition to scholarly qualifications are especially encouraged to apply.

• Teach at least one required course on development, as well as courses in methods and the candidate’s area of functional expertise.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate, graduate, and master’s students.
• Have prior teaching experience and a record of publication and research; a record of policy relevance is a significant plus.
• Share a commitment to multidisciplinary, empirically grounded, and policy‑relevant research and teaching, and to nurturing the next generation of international relations practitioners.
• Display the ability to teach quantitative methods.
• Demonstrate policy experience in addition to scholarly qualifications.
