The salary range for the finalist selected for this role is $96,000.00–$. The final salary will be determined based on departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and internal pay comparison. This range represents the University's good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in International and/or Human Development, beginning July 1, 2026. We are especially interested in scholars whose work focuses not only on traditional economic development themes, but also on outcomes in health, education, and freedom at the individual and group levels, and pays particular attention to issues of inequality.

We welcome applications from scholars in any relevant discipline, including economics, geography, political science, development studies, and international relations. All methodological approaches are acceptable; the ability to teach quantitative methods is a plus. Candidates who have demonstrated policy experience in addition to scholarly qualifications are especially encouraged to apply.

We seek scholars who will contribute to our community of teachers and researchers through excellence in innovative scholarship, engaged teaching, and participation in the intellectual life of the University. Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Teach at least one required course on development, methods, and area(s) of functional expertise.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate Master’s degree students.
  • Demonstrate a record of publication and research; prior teaching experience is a significant plus.
  • Commit to multidisciplinary, empirically‑grounded, and policy‑relevant research and teaching.
  • Engage in the intellectual life of the University and broader community.
