Job Description

The Writing Place Assistant Coordinator will manage the daily operations of the Writing Place including managing tutoring appointments for in-person and online sessions. The position is for Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 AM - 5 PM in-person at BHCC Charlestown Campus and possibly Fridays from 10 AM - 1 PM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor tutors in training and Writing Associates (embedded tutors in ENG 111 and ENG 112 courses).
  • Assist with updating resources in the Writing Place and making copies of materials.
  • Maintain a professional work environment and intervene when necessary to de-escalate any potential situations that would jeopardize that setting.
  • Communicate with Writing Place Coordinator on a habitual basis that relates to needs, concerns, and other related feedback about the Writing Place.
  • Attend monthly meetings with Writing Associates on designated Fridays from 9-10 am remotely.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English or related field.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong sense of professionalism.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
Additional Information

Salary: $36.55/hr. @ 16hr/week for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semester - a total of 30 weeks (non-benefited)
