JOB TITLE: Teacher, Grade 3 (long-term substitute)
REPORTS TO: Principal
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The classroom teacher is responsible for delivering a high quality instructional experience consistent with the curriculum standards of the school district. Essential duties for all faculty members include classroom instruction, conferences with students, parents and colleagues, and active participation in the work of the department on curriculum development, activities and pedagogy.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in specific subject area(s)
- Provides learning experiences in the subject area, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards, while creating an environment conducive to student learning.
- Maintains classroom management.
- Promotes high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Uses innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including effective use of technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
- Follows professional practices consistent with the district's policies in working with students, parents and colleagues.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
- Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at professional development events and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and re-certification requirements.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned by the building principal/assistant principal.
Working in a school setting. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy indoor environment with about 85% of the time inside the school and about 15% outside. Ability to stand, sit and/or squat for extended periods of time. Perform other duties that may be assigned.
