Academic Radiologists Professional Development in Educational Research​/Leadership

Overview

The Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) seeks academically promising, full-time radiologists who are board-certified or board-eligible and interested in combining subspecialty clinical practice with training in Educational Research and Leadership. Academic appointment at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School (HMS) will be commensurate with experience. Subspecialties include Breast Imaging, Thoracic Imaging, Abdominal/Ultrasound Imaging and Emergency Radiology, with recruitment beginning July 1, 2024.

• Contribute to and advance patient care, research, and educational missions of the Academic Division and HMS.
• Maintain one day per week of protected academic time.
• During the first year, enroll in Foundations of Educational Research (Brigham Education Institute). The faculty member will spend 4 days per week on the chosen subspecialty clinical service and 1 day per week designing an educational project or research study in medical education, mentored by a senior educator.
• Develop an educational project that supports an application to the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in Health Professions or to the Rabkin Fellowship in Medical Education.
• During the second year, attend either the Harvard Macy Institute program or the Rabkin Fellowship and become a Radiology Education member at large. A divisional-specific educational role may be offered based on availability.
• In addition to one day per week of protected academic time, have additional protected time for program attendance.
• Compensation is equivalent to other full-time faculty in the department and is primarily based on years in practice and academic rank.
