Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Special Education
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Teacher with an SEI Endorsement who is highly qualified to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This role supports high expectations for achievement, equal access to instruction, and closing achievement gaps.
Reports To:
Principal/Head of School
- Implement district learning goals and objectives, aligned with state frameworks, with familiarity in identifying access points for student portfolio development.
- Provide small-group instruction to students diagnosed with from moderate to severe cognitive delays to ensure understanding and progress in the general curriculum.
- Write and implement goals and objectives consistent with student IEPs and provide timely progress reports on student development.
- Provide accommodations for student learning and testing; develop and implement curriculum as needed, and collect and analyze student work for MCAS Alternative Assessment progress.
- Collaborate with other staff to respond to student needs for modification.
- Provide assistance for students transitioning to adult living services where appropriate.
- Using the Rubric of Effective Teaching, priority skills and abilities identified by the Office of Human Resources for all BPS teachers.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree. - Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level.
- ESL License at the appropriate level or SEI Endorsement.
- Meet state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching as outlined by Boston Public Schools.
- Current authorization to work in the United States by your first day of employment.
- Experience teaching in urban schools.
- Degree in Special Education.
- Value linguistic diversity; proficiency in one of BPS official languages is preferred:
Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean/Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali. - Preferred to be certified in subject area and state-approved licenses for Moderate Disabilities or ESL as applicable.
