Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is one of Massachusetts' largest community colleges, serving approximately 16,000 students annually with campuses in Charlestown and Chelsea. Job DescriptionBHCC seeks full-time tenure-track faculty who demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success. Faculty must be adept in the assessment of learning outcomes and the use of technology in the classroom. Candidates should be committed educators who can support the needs of diverse 21st-century learners and contribute to advising students and to college life. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College s locations.
Applicants should have a proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- Teach mathematics courses at all levels.
- Evaluate student performance in the classroom and laboratory settings using outcomes-based assessments.
- Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching strategies to promote students critical thinking skills.
- Develop instructional materials aligned with course objectives.
- Participate in determining goals and objectives of mathematics courses and assist in developing course standards.
- Advise students in the Mathematics AA and other STEM programs.
- Use new technologies in the classroom, as appropriate, to facilitate learning.
- Maintain expertise and currency in the area of teaching responsibility.
- Actively participate as a faculty member in the general College community and fulfill duties as stipulated in applicable agreements.
- Master s degree required in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics;
Physics or Engineering. A Master s degree or Doctorate in Education with mathematics coursework will be considered if graduate transcripts are submitted;
Ph.D. preferred. - College-level mathematics teaching experience required.
- Experience teaching in developmental and college-level mathematics in a community college setting preferred.
- Experience using instructional software for developmental mathematics.
- Experience with contextualized curriculum development is desirable.
- Experience teaching in Learning Communities or willingness to engage in teaching Learning Communities.
- Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- Preferred: Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated experience teaching online.
- Demonstrated experience supporting student retention as part of teaching and learning.
- Salary: $58,438.00 - $62,960.00 (Actual salary commensurate with education and experience per the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement). Full-time benefited position.
