Job Description

BHCC is seeking dynamic adjunct faculty to teach in the Hospitality Department. These positions require an on-campus component (Lecture & Lab).

Course
: CUL-126 Baking Foundations 2 (In-person, Tuesdays & Thursday, 8:30 AM-2:15 PM)

This course builds on Baking Foundations
1. Students learn components and assembly of desserts and advanced pastry production techniques. The course introduces students to the proper application of mixes, scratch laminated dough, fillings, and advanced pastries. Students will take a practical assessment to demonstrate proficiency with bakeshop skills. Additional expenses may include supplies, equipment, and/or uniforms.

Course
: CUL-119 Cake Decorating (In-person, Tuesdays 2:30 PM-3:45 PM)

This course focuses on the basics of cake baking and decorating and allows students to refine their cake decorating skills. The course introduces the techniques used to decorate tiered cakes, calligraphy, writing with chocolate and gels, as well as working with the different mediums used to decorate special occasion cakes. Students will take a practical assessment to demonstrate proficiency with these baking skills.

Students will learn the basic techniques used for royal icing and rolled fondant. Additional expenses may include supplies, equipment, and/or uniforms.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts or Associate Degree in Culinary with relevant work experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach professional service and sanitation skills.
  • Commitment to advancing equity and access in the classroom.
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
  • Maintains high standards for kitchen and food preparation sanitation.
Preferred Requirements
  • College teaching experience, especially at community college level.
Additional Information

Salary
: $1,397.00 Per Credit Hour. Interview process will include on-site bench test. Details will be provided at time of interview scheduling.
