Join KIPP Massachusetts as a Lead Teacher at KIPP Academy Boston Charter School. The role focuses on high‑quality instruction, character development, family engagement, and college readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a lead or co‑lead in a classroom (or classrooms), with responsibilities that may include leading a class independently, co‑teaching, coverage, or stepping into a lead role later in the year.
  • Ensure that all children are affirmed, valued, and challenged every day.
  • Foster a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Prepare and internalize rigorous and engaging unit and daily lessons, leveraging provided curricula/resources and intellectual preparation tools.
  • Create and internalize academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments as required.
  • Set specific, ambitious growth goals with all students and identify resources to help them meet those goals.
  • Innovate on best practices to execute engaging, differentiated instruction at a level rigorous for all students.
  • Implement aligned school‑wide or grade‑level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Regularly analyze student work and academic data to modify lessons, refine curricula, and inform instruction.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date student grades/records and maintain communication with students and families about growth and progress.
School and Professional Responsibilities
  • Obtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements with financial support from KIPP MA within the first year.
  • Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development, including pre‑service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year.
  • Take ownership for the development of teaching craft, seeking and implementing feedback from a coach and collaborating with teammates.
  • Perform assigned duties including classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal duties.
  • Develop strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent communication.
  • Offer and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to create a professional working atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to tackle common challenges and implement grade‑wide systems.
  • Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar, communicating proactively when attendance barriers arise.
General Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Participate in regional professional development and community events as required.
  • Demonstrate ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner.

  • Use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs of students.
  • Have effective communication skills across various modes.
  • Be physically mobile; able to move in various positions and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Possess manual dexterity for computer use.

What We Offer

The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $63,000 to $102,500 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week), depending on years of experience. The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus plus other bonuses, when eligible.
