Position Summary
Assistant Professor, Acting and Directing – Tenure‑Track (Full‑time) at the Performing Arts Department, College of Liberal Arts, University of Massachusetts Boston. Position commences September 1, 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in acting and directing at all curriculum levels.
- Direct a departmental theatre production annually (counts as one class).
- Develop and expose students to a range of performance techniques, including but not limited to fight choreography, musical theatre, movement, and voice.
- Advise undergraduate majors and contribute service to the program, college, university, and the broader profession.
- Maintain a professional portfolio of creative and/or scholarly work for tenure review.
- Terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in acting, directing, or a related field.
- Experience teaching undergraduate Theatre Arts courses.
- Professional experience as an actor, director, or in an equivalent production role.
- Degree must be in hand by August 31, 2026.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing creative, scholarly, or artistic activity.
Salary range: $80,000 – $82,550 (annual, approximate). The specific salary will be determined by the University based on relevant factors at the time of offer. Exceptional candidates may be considered for salaries above the published range.
