- Provide infants and toddlers with a joyful, nurturing, safe, healthy, individualized environment and varied experiences to support social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development appropriate to their age and stage.
- Balance individual and small group activities, including open‑ended exploration, teacher‑directed activities, structured activities, and sensory‑based play to foster curiosity, engagement, reasoning, and problem solving.
- Offer care such as diapering, toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene in a relaxed and individualized manner that promotes independence and autonomy.
- Supervise classroom volunteers to facilitate the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning activities.
- Integrate educational aspects of Head Start components—health, safety, nutrition, dental health, and families—by creating opportunities and activities that teach these concepts.
- Use computer skills and Microsoft Office applications, and work with various database systems for data collection as required.
- Collaborate as a member of the teaching team, with program staff and parents, exhibiting professional behavior and good interpersonal skills.
- Where appropriate, demonstrate bilingual ability and sensitivity to the educational and socioeconomic needs of diverse children and families.
- Prior experience teaching infants and toddlers in a Head Start, Early Head Start, or similar program.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with culturally diverse, low‑income families.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Computational proficiency:
Microsoft Office, and other databases used for data collection. - Professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively with peers and families.
- Ability to adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies relevant to child care and early education.
- Capacity to report suspected child abuse or neglect to the required state authorities promptly.
