Boston University Admissions seeks to hire a group of seasonal application readers for the 2025-26 application reading season. This group of readers will work with our office from early November through early March. This position is 100% remote.
Seasonal readers will begin their work with a three-week training period. Once trained, they will work with our professional staff to read applications from secondary schools in specific regions in the U.S and overseas. They will be charged with conducting a comprehensive evaluation of applicants from their assigned schools by reviewing academic credentials as well as recommendations, activities, and written essays, while also factoring in an applicant's life experiences and background.
We are a high-volume environment, with an applicant pool of about 80,000. Attention to detail and strict adherence to deadlines are critical skills in this position. Strong analytical and reading skills are essential as is the ability to work independently and seek clarification when necessary. Given the confidential nature of application review, it is essential that all readers exercise the utmost discretion.
Required Skills
The ideal candidates will have prior experience in secondary schools or higher education. Familiarity with secondary school transcripts is required and experience with international curricula and grading systems is preferred. All readers must have access to a private computer with a reliable internet connection. A bachelor's degree is required. Candidates for the position must reside in the United States. The salary for this position is $25.00 an hour for 15-20 hours per week.
