The School of Nursing seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students. In accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and New Hampshire Board of Nursing, the Adjunct Faculty of the School of Nursing fosters the development of required nursing skill competency, critical thinking ability and application of nursing knowledge to practice.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers didactic, laboratory and/or experiential instruction via multiple formats (in‑person, online, or blended)
  • Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
  • Provides engaging assignments that demonstrate real‑world applications of concepts covered
  • Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
  • Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by video conference, phone or e‑mail, and through other University‑approved mechanisms
  • Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and awareness of new developments in the field to update teaching or content
  • Facilitates pre‑ and post‑conference for assigned students
  • Integrates didactic content into the clinical assignment for the student(s)
  • Achieves consistently effective teaching performance as evidenced by student evaluations/comments/letters
  • Recognizes and addresses different learning styles in collaboration with core faculty
  • Communicates with core faculty on a regular basis to track student progress or develop performance improvement plans to support student learning
  • Develops individualized interventions for students having difficulty in collaboration with core faculty
  • Collaborates with laboratory faculty to support student remediation
  • Conducts clinical evaluation in collaboration with core faculty who has ultimate responsibility for student evaluation
  • Provides feedback to core faculty and clinical placement coordinator on appropriateness of health‑care agency regarding teaching/learning environment for students
  • Provides feedback to core faculty on student preparedness regarding core curriculum and MCPHS core competencies
  • Has working knowledge of the MCPHS SON curriculum and the level of the participating students
  • Attends course‑specific orientation on campus with core faculty
  • Participates in clinical faculty mentoring as identified by core course faculty
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a master’s degree in nursing
  • Current in professional practice with a minimum of two years of current nursing practice experience within the last five years
  • Current RN licensure (or eligibility) in Massachusetts or New Hampshire
  • Applicant must be in good standing with respective nursing board
  • Certification in specialty as appropriate
  • Nursing education experience at the baccalaureate level
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Attentive to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a dynamic team and in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment
  • Commitment to undergraduate and/or professional education and student success
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Massachusetts‑based faculty must have a working knowledge of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing 244 CMR 6.00 (will be provided during orientation)
  • New Hampshire‑based faculty must have a working knowledge of NH Board of Nursing Chapter Nur 600 Nursing Education (will be provided during orientation)
  • Knowledge of the NCLEX test plan
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)
