Designer - Entry Level (Part Time Temporary)
Be among the first 25 applicants. The Designer supports the work of one or more team members and displays judgment and independent thinking in the design process. Position is 70% designer / 30% project manager. Achieving Results Project.
ResponsibilitiesUse critical thinking and discretion in assessing specific project needs and communicating effectively to the project manager.
Begin to familiarize / learn the process for reviewing monthly fee drafts with Project Manager / Associate / Principal.
Understand how to apply authorized scope of work to tasks and meet deadlines.
Assist in managing agendas, meeting minutes, and regular project status communications.
Work independently on specific scopes of a project like calculations or documentation.
Support the team to produce work efficiently and profitably.
Assist the project manager in creating labor hour budgets for projects.
Client ResponsibilitiesDevelop good client and / or related business relationships.
Enhance HLBs value to the client and promote the firm.
Use communication tools to manage client expectations.
Continue to develop client relationships and work well with partners at other firms.
Exhibit flexibility and cooperation with teammates.
Manage own work time and priorities, and coordinate with the project team.
Understanding a good framework for resolving issuesInterface among principals, design / technical staff and business team as needed.
Corporate Culture and ValuesSupport HLB initiatives and contribute to the firm’s best interests.
Represent HLB professionally.
Participate in Designing Our Future, HLB 10 : 10 Vision, and C2Q initiatives.
Collaborate with other HLB offices on projects, DOF, C2Q, and business work groups in a meaningful way.
RequirementsExcellent organizational skills.
Proven technical skills appropriate to work area.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Revit, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign), AutoCAD, AGI, Visual / Elum Tools, Diva, Grasshopper, Ecotect, Radiance, Daysim, Rhino, Vision (as applicable).
Ability to prioritize and time‑manage.
Bachelor’s degree or above in Lighting Design or Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Theatrical Lighting, or related field.
2 to 4 years of experience.
Certification in Lighting Design (e.g., LC) or related field, or pursuing certification.
LEED BD+C or intent to achieve IALD Associate level or above.
Participation in industry related professional organizations locally.
