You will harmonize world-class dentistry with leadership, guiding dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants to thrive both clinically and professionally. Together with the Studio Manager, you will foster an environment that aligns with Tend's Mission, Vision, and Values, driving the success of both patients and the studio.
We provide a competitive compensation package, featuring a guaranteed base and production bonuses. Chief Dental Officers can earn between 32-40% of their adjusted production, coupled with leadership bonuses and comprehensive support to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Mentorship
- Guide and mentor dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants in diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical skills, and patient care.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for dentists and develop action plans as needed.
- Collaborate with the Lead Hygienist and Lead Dental Assistant to offer team-wide mentorship and development.
- Oversee clinical onboarding and quality assurance for new hires.
- Ensure that high-quality care and patient experiences are consistently delivered across all providers.
Studio Performance & Patient Care
- Provide comprehensive dental services that meet or exceed the standard of care, while exemplifying clinical excellence for your team.
- Work with the Studio Manager to enhance scheduling, patient access, and achieve production and care outcomes.
- Lead daily team huddles and studio calibrations to focus on workflow, patient care, and operational efficiency.
- Analyze clinical outcomes (e.g., re-dos, escalations) and implement solutions to consistently improve care.
- Take charge of complex cases and manage member escalations, including decisions related to refunds and clinical resolutions.
Culture & Team Development
- Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-focused studio culture alongside your Studio Manager and clinical leads.
- Identify and support clinical team members with leadership potential.
- Engage in leadership development meetings and communicate essential updates to your studio team.

What You Bring
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental institution.
- Active dental license in the practicing state.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Active DEA registration.
- At least 6 years of post-residency experience in private practice, DSO, or similar leadership roles.
- Experience in mentoring, teaching, or leading providers in a multi-chair setting.
- Proven track record in managing complex patient cases and provider escalations.
- Familiarity with modern technology and digital workflows;
Invisalign certification is strongly preferred. - Ability to commit to a full-time schedule of 4 days per week plus 2 Saturdays monthly.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform essential job duties listed, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods while conducting clinical procedures.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to handle dental instruments and perform precise procedures.
- Adequate vision (with or without correction) to read charts, interpret radiographs, and operate clinical equipment.
- Ability to bend, reach, and maintain ergonomic positioning for patient care.
- Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Effective communication skills with patients, team members, and other healthcare professionals both in-person and virtually.
