PositionSummary
The MTW Front Desk Reception, Hospitality & Safety Manager serves as the first point of contact for youth, staff, volunteers and visitors coming to the MTW Boston location. This role creates a welcoming, safe, and organized environment while supporting daily operations and maintaining safety protocols at More Than Words. The position plays a critical role in upholding the organization’s mission to provide a secure, supportive, and positive space for youth development and job training, while also being a key role to maintain safety protocols.
The manager reports to the Boston Site Director.
- Greet and welcome youth, staff, volunteers and visitors in a friendly, professional manner
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct guests appropriately
- Manage sign‑in/sign‑out procedures for youth, volunteers, and visitors
- Create name tags for all youth, volunteers and visitors
- Maintain accurate attendance and visitor logs
- Create a warm, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants and guests
- Assist volunteers and guests with general information about programs and services
- Support events, meetings, and daily activities as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and common areas
- Monitor facility entrances and ensure adherence to safety and access protocols
- Verify identification and authorization for youth, volunteers and visitors
- Enforce organizational safety policies and emergency procedures
- Respond calmly to safety concerns or incidents
- Communicate concerns promptly to supervisor or program leadership
- Respond to customer service emails in a timely and professional manner
- Coordinate donation logistics, including dispatch, scheduling, and calendar management
- Assist with basic marketing and social media tasks, including posting updates and sharing program information
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as supply ordering, data entry, and scheduling support
- Distribute mail, supplies, and messages to staff and program areas
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- 21 years of age
- MTW Alumni having completed 2 years of MTW graduate career services
- Experience in reception, hospitality, customer service, or youth‑serving environments preferred
- Basic computer skills (email, data entry, scheduling systems)
- Warm, approachable, and culturally responsive demeanor
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to set boundaries and enforce policies respectfully
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Experience working with youth, volunteers, or community organizations a plus
Monday – Friday 9 AM – 5 PM at our Boston site. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be scheduled in advance on mutual agreement for events or presentations.
Compensation$52,000 – $57,749; commensurate with skills and experience.
